Summer is drawing to a close here in the copper country…The fair is over and it was in the low 40’s this morning when we got up to go school clothes shopping. The fair was exciting for me this year, it was the first time since I was a kid that I had entered anything and I am very pleased with how I did.
The first thing I decided to enter was a gnome that I knit that was inspired by Alan Dart’s Yuletide Gnome.

Kait named him Arnold and he won a first place ribbon!
Then I decided to enter the photography contest, picking the pics to enter was the hardest part…
My first entry was a grouping of 3 4×6 local environment photos.

This group took second place in it’s category..
And I also entered a local environment 8×10…

Which I am very proud to say took first in it’s category and best in show!!!
I was just hoping to get at least one ribbon on something!

Where have the last 2 months gone!!!!! I can’t believe how long it has been since I signed in here last…it has been a crazy, busy summer. But anyways, I just signed up for the second round of the Big Bag swap. I had so much fun with the first one!!! Now I’m trying to get ideas of what to do with my second…thinking maybe some cables…or maybe keep the sheep motif as my “trademark” but do something different with it…hmm….guess the final decision will come

I can’t believe how long it has been since I have posted on here!!! Spring is finally arriving, the lilacs are in bloom and everything is turning green. The shop has been busy, we’ve been meeting new friends and are having so much fun dying yarns! I’m doing more weaving now and am currently working on an 8-harness Baby Wolf which has been a fun learning process. Ok, back to work for me!

Wow, it’s April already??? Still snowing and looks like winter here but I’m hoping spring will start soon. I’m about half way done on my Big Bag, my design idea is proving a bit complicated to execute but I think it will be worth it. And I just need to weave in the ends of the mobius cowl I made, I like how it turned out. I have the written directions done for my entralac class and the graphs for the intarsia and cable classes, the pattern for the sock class just has to be typed and test knit one more time…I finally like the heel…I think…so anyway, that is life here. Oh, the spinner’s potluck is this Saturday at Fiber Whims so if you are in the neighborhood stop by and say hi!

Well, it hasn’t been a fun weekend here, I’ve been sick and cranky but I was actually making great progress on my Big Bag. I’m up into my pattern, I figured out how to do a modified intarsia/fair isle for the pattern…it was all going great. Then I went to my handspun stash to grab yarn for the sheep and realize the yarn I had planned to use is Lincoln…which I am afraid won’t felt well.
So off to the fiber stash I went for some corridale and the drop spindle….but spinning and not feeling well were not going well together so I’m working on

Well Big Bag is starting out pretty cool, I have made contact with the person I am spoiling and have some great ideas in progress for goodies to put in her bag…hoping she will like some hand dyed merino
I have cool ideas for my bag too…thinking I’m going to skip the stripes and put an intarsia pattern on the bag instead…still playing with the idea
Maybe some sheep and hearts…but I have picked my base colors and am going to start the knitting tomorrow. On the work note, just finishing up my sock pattern for the class next month, I think I finally like the heel…now I just need to get my drop spindle out and get myself ready to teach classes with that…I really prefer my wheel but I love drop spindles…just not actually using them! Oh well, maybe with more practice

I got the info about the person I get to spoil for the Big Bag Swap last night, I have picked the colors for her bag and I have so many ideas for the goodies to go in it that my head is swimming!!! I also played with Ravelry last night and added everyone from Big Bag to my friends. I’m getting even more excited about this!!! Wondering if she would like some handpainted merino yarn…or superwash merino/bamboo/nylon…hmm…decisions, decisions…
